  • Payer information: Legal name of payer, address (including city, code, and state), business information.
  • Payee information: Legal name, address (city, state, and zip code), TIN (Tax Identification Number).
  • Payment details: It includes the total amount paid, tax withholding, and more.

  • Log in or sign up for your E-file Workforce Payroll account.
  • Once the dashboards open, check the left menu for new filing.
  • Choose the tax year and 1099-NEC from the drop-down. 
  • A new form will pop up. Add all the details and submit. 
  • You can also check the box to send email copies to contractors effortlessly.

When to File 1099-NEC?

Both 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC are file on the exact dates. It’s typically filed for a whole year. Here are some deadlines to keep a check on:

  • Filing through the IRS’s online filing system: Monday, March 31, 2025
  • Paper filings with the IRS: Friday, January 31, 2025
  • Without data, the recipient copy: Friday, January 31, 2025
  • With a copy for the recipient: Friday, February 17, 2025
